Hot Shots Start off Fast at Sunnyvale Tournament

The Hot Shots started off their inaugural season in Sunnyvale on June 2 &3. The opening game was exciting as Haley Douglas was in total command in the circle. She pitched a shutout against the Blitz as the Hot Shots cruised to a 6-0 victory. The offense was helped out by many walks by the opposing pitcher. Britannia Bloom had a nice double. Alex Herman and Lauren Ayres both earned a "Blue Ball" for making an outstanding defensive play.

The next game was a complete rout as the Hot Shots jumped all over the Outlaws. Alia Ismail led the offense with 2 hits including a triple. Georgia Bloom easily handled the Outlaws while throwing a complete game shut out. The offense was spread out amongst the entire team as most players got a hit during the game that was shortened by the mercy rule.

The last game of the day came against the Valley Stompers. The Stompers Stomped all over the Hot Shots in a very poorly played game by the Hot Shots. Going into this game, the HS made only one error. They make nine errors during this game and as a result, they lost handily to the Stompers. All in all a pretty good day, going 2-1.

Sunday was a different day, unfortunately. The Hot Shots faced the Blitz again. This time, they couldn't get any timely hitting. They left 9 runners on over 6 innings and weren't able to scratch across any runs. As a result, they wasted a good effort on the mound by Haley Douglas and Georgia Bloom. Carli Kachel hit the ball well as did Hillman, Alia, and Georgia, but it wasn't enough. The bats went down silently whenever runners were in scoring position. Zoe Price made her debut in a Hot Shots uniform and crushed a line drive right to the center fielder with 2 runners on in the last inning. Close... but not quite!

The Hot Shots resume action on June 16-17 in Napa.
